Talk Meet                                                                                                                                              

Gives 4-Hers the opportunity to speak before a group. The contest is divided into age groups. Speeches may be given on any topic, and you can get assistance from many sources.  Talk Meet is usually held in February of each year. More information. 

 

Demonstrations                                                                                                                    

Demonstrations involve speaking with the use of props to help in showing and telling. Divisions are made according to subject matter and age. Demonstrations Contest is usually held in March of each year. More information.

 

Mock Interviews                                                                                                                                        

The Mock Job Interview Contest is a Public Speaking contest that gives members an opportunity to practice the real-life skill of applying for a job. The contest involves a set of fictitious Job Descriptions for senior 4-Her’s that the members can go through the process of applying for. The Mock Interview Contest is usually held the same night as Talk Meet in February. More Information

 

Written Communications Contest

Do you have a passion for writing? Have you ever written a poem or a song?  If so, share you talents and participate in the Kentucky 4-H Written Communications Contest! This state level contest is offered each spring, More information.

 

Poster Contest

Put all of your creative thoughts into making a poster for the 4-H Poster Contest. Entries are due to the Barren County Extension Office on Monday, May 4. Awards will are given with champions advancing to the area contest. This usually takes place in March each year. 

The rules for the contest are as follows:

  • Poster must be created by a currently enrolled 4-H’er.
  • Well known cartoon figures cannot be used because they are copyrighted.
  • All posters must be designed on or affixed to poster board of 14”x22” dimensions (one half a standard poster board size). They may be horizontal or vertical. Poster may be produced by any medium...watercolor, ink, crayon, acrylic, charcoals, oils, collage, so long as they are not three dimensional.
  • 4-H is to be the topic for the poster. You can show what you think 4-H is, show what you do in 4-H, what you think 4-H does for young people.
  • Themes similar to those used on the National 4-H Week Posters should not be used.
  • The 4-H’ers name, age, full address, county, and a brief artwork in-terpretive statement must be affixed to the back of the poster board in the upper left hand corner.

Hart County does not have a photography club. If you are interested in volunteering as a club leader please contact the Extension Office. More information

 

The Kentucky 4-H Performing Arts Troupe and Teen Leadership Board

The KY 4-H Performing Arts Troupe & Board is a group of amazing and talented high school teens who love to sing and perform.   Members will attend a music camp, perform at various 4-H State level events, learn about careers related to the performing arts and lead a Performing Arts workshop for middle school 4-H members.
